Check if antivirus is working properly

What do you think? How effectively does it work for your security?

Well there is a sipmple ways to find it out. In fact this trick is really amazing and surprising.

To Test your Anti-Virus do the following:

  • Open Notepad (start > all programs > accessories > notepad)
  • Now copy this code in the text file

  • Then save it with the name fakevirus.exe

Now, if the file got detected/deleted immediately, it means your antivirus is working properly.

Info: This test virus was developed by the European Institute for Computer Anti-VirusResearch (EICAR) to provide an easy (and safe!) way to test whether your anti-virus software is working, and see how it reacts when a virus is detected. It is supported by most leading vendors, such as IBM, McAfee, Sophos, and Symantec/Norton.
